What is Square Knitting?

The aim of Knitting Squares is to show knitters how they can experiment and play with making their own knitted objects. Knitted objects made up of squares means that if you have only just learnt to knit you can go on to design and make your own creations with nothing more than the first stitch you have learnt. Knitting squares is also a good way to start thinking about how to form your own knitted pieces if you haven't just learnt to knit but always follow patterns and you can draw in what you already know about knitting. Knitting squares believes that knitting is amazing and creative but that the way knitting is centred around following patterns removes the potential of individual creativity.
